FMP WorkShop

FMP WorkShop  Our task was to create a questionnaire with five questions to ask around the college on the subject of our choice, this was to find out different age groups and how long they spend on social media daily. My primary research shows that more males use social media than females. Also looking at my results the most amount of time spent on social media is between 1 - 4 hours a day. Overall, This is my analysis on my social media questionnaires. I was very surprised, at the results that the most amount of time spent on social media was between 1 - 4 hours This may suggest that the people who use social media may have an addiction to their electronic devices such as their phones or computers. I also was surprised to find that the most common and popular use of social media is Twitter, the other popular ones are Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram. Another result we found is that most people who use social media are people who use their phones, not surprising as ma...

Colour Grading

Colour Grading/Colour Correction Lighting is one of the main factors when colour grading because it has 2 tones, warmer and cooler. Warmer is orange/red and cooler is blue. Tungsten are old lights with old bulbs. LED is the industry standard because of how cheap to run and hire they are. Lighting is the foundation of colour grading because you need to let the right amount of light through a cameras sensor to get good results when colour grading on your project. White balance is used to remove unrealistic colour shifts in a photo of video. Colour is very important to the grading process because it’s you manipulate footage in your preferred editing software to get it they way a creator envisioned. Colour is also used to tell stories by having different pallets for each scene in a film. Short Film Analysis For Audio

Short Film Analysis  In this audio commentary, I will be analyzing this short film named "Maude". Maude is a comedy about a baby sitter who pretends to be the mother of the baby she is looking after, Script In the opening scene, we see a young woman sitting in an untidy car. (0-24) An establishing shot is used as the woman is approaching the door to the house. (25-31) A woman opens the door. They talk, and it is clear that they used to know each other. Then we discover that the younger woman is looking for the woman's sister.  (35-1.15) Notice the use of bright lights and sunlight.  (1.25-2.11)  In this scene, we see the young woman introduced to the baby, and she looks a little taken aback (2.50- 3.07) A wide shot is used to show the baby sitter is bored and she doesn't know what do, as the baby is crying (3.18-3.45) Then she opens the fridge and gets a smoothie, which she spills on her top (3.46-3.55) We see the baby sitter wearing the at...

Explain An Auteur Approach

Explain An Auteur Approach  Auteur theory is the use of the same style, techniques and uniqueness that can be seen as a signature, or trademark, in the films of a director, cinematographer, editor, screenwriter and composer. This could be in the technique of editing, camera angles, lights, mise-en scene, dialogue, the use of the same actors, genre and music, etc.   Auteur theory originated in France in the early 1940s, for example " Andre Bazin, creator of influential French magazine  Cahiers du Cinema  began preaching the notion of personalism – t he idea that a film should reflect its director’s personal vision" . ( coldcoffeepressblog.wordpress.com ). This idea was recognised by multiple film critics and filmmakers such as Francois Truffaut.  Wes Anderson - In most of his wor k he uses bright vibrant colours and likes to use symmetry to captivate his audience. This adds effect by adding obscure camera angles along with the stunning colours. ...

Short Film Deconstruction

Short Film Analysis  I had to watch a short film from short of the week. then I had to deconstruct a video of my choice to get inspiration for my short film. https://www.shortoftheweek.com/2020/01/16/maude/  Is about a person who goes to baby sit whilst the mum goes out. The baby sitter has a look around the house as the baby is crying, then the baby sitter goes to the fridge and sees a lot of healthy drinks and vegetables. She decides to get a green smoothy from the fridge and tries to open it, as she is opening it see spills it on her t-shirt. The baby sitter sees athletic clothing on the side and decides to change into it. She looks at the baby and the baby stops crying. When she walks out of the house she is struggling with the push chair, and a jogger offers to help lift the psh chair. Then, the jogger asks her if it is her baby? This makes baby sitter wonder what it would be like  to be a mother. In the middle part of the short film, they enter a coffee ...

Deconstruction of Music Video

This music video I have chosen to deconstruct is from an artist called JUMEX and the song name is  TRAPPED   released  2018  the link has been provided dow below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYOmOEg_nvI The concept of this music video is a mixture of concepts and animation. It starts off with a bed with a cartoon face of the artist, then transitions into a white background with the artist sitting in the corner (real life). For the first 30 seconds, the video cuts quickly between the cartoon version and the real artist. Then, the title of the song pops up, followed by the real artist, and the artist changes his hair colour, then as the beat builds up there are strobe effects on screen, to mirror the beat of the music. The camera spins around quickly with the artist on the bed and appearing insane. This helps to portray the song title "Trapped:. In the middle of the video, the artist is alternately shown sitting on the bed and dancing. He is also singing in sy...

Contextual Research

Contextual Research Our client is a shop called "Belong Gaming Arena" located in Sutton. This shop is a fairly new shop, it is only about 2 months old, but the company has been operating since July 2016. The company offers any genre of game for the most hardcore players and support casual and beginner players. Also, the company helps you to compete with the country's best gamers. Their gaming can be hired for parties, and you can even experience new game titles. Their website has a professional look with dark themes and vivid colours and is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. I have researched two competitors within the area, and found "The Heart of Gaming" and "Limitless VR", which are located in Croydon, which is about 5 miles away from "Belong Gaming Arena". "Limitless VR" offers a different take on the market with Retro Games and VR (Virtual Reality). In contrast to "Limitless' and "Belong", "The...

History of the Music Video (1960's to early 2000's)

In this essay, I will be examining an overview of the music video history from the 1960s to the early 2000s. I will be reviewing groundbreaking videos from each decade, the significance and decline of MTV, influential music video directors and one controversial music video. In 1965 Bob Dylan composed "Subterranean Homesick Blues" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGxjIBEZvx0 ) which had a video to with the song. This was groundbreaking because this was the very first music video ever produced. In 1976 a rock band called The Residents released "Third Reich 'n' Roll". This video can be considered as ground-breaking because it incorporated stop-motion animation in addition to German Expressionism aesthetics. The video also captures and conceptualises the history of rock music.  Michael Jackson’s 1983 “Thriller” ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOnqjkJTMaA ) remains the most popular music video of all time: a 14-minute horror spoof that changed the b...

Evaluation For Promotional Video

Evaluation In this essay I shall be evaluating my “Promotional Video” assignment. I will discuss the research process, the pre-production, the production, the post production, and finally my conclusions. I will examine the group’s, and my, strengths and weaknesses, and also areas for improvement. At the beginning of the assignment, we undertook research which was primary and secondary research. We did this research as a group and individually. I found it easier to do the research as a group, because I think the members of the group each have their own skills and strengths. Also, working as a group is key as the majority of the project is working as a team, therefore the research should be similar. Individually, I researched different styles of promotional videos and I deconstructed 3 videos: “Brumtours”, “Open Eye Media” and “Bit Replay”. I also created a survey about how people play games, to find out if the target audience would visit the gaming arena that I am promoting. I fo...
