Mainstream And Independent Film

What are the differences between mainstream and independent film? In film there are mainstream and independent audiences for certain films, for example Marvel's Avengers is a mainstream film. This is because it was released around the world in countries such as UK, America, Canada etc. and it was produced with a hefty budget of 220 million USD.  Mainstream films are mostly shown in all of the big named cinemas: Empire, Odeon, Vue etc. Independent films are typically very low budget wise and are usually produced  outside majo r  film studios. Independent films are typically screened at select cinemas such as Arthouse style cinemas with smaller audiences. The target audience for mainstream films are usually people in the age range of teenagers to 30 year olds, compared to independent films are more likely to attract audiences above 30 years old and college graduates. Music Video Evaluation

Evaluation In this evaluation, I will reflect and analyse my Music Video Project. I will evaluate my performance throughout the project, what I have learnt and, what went well and how I can improve. At the start of the project, I was partnered with one classmate, who was also a friend of mine. I was very happy with this partnership, as I thought it was a person who I would be able to trust, and it would be enjoyable. I thought this would help to make things go smoothly, because we know what our strengths and weaknesses are from experience of our past projects. For pre-production we discussed a song and an idea, and then we split the tasks equally. I did the risk assessment, the equipment list, location recce and the cast list. I was happy with the pre-production, as it went well and we manged to complete it well before our deadline. At this stage, I was excited and looking forward to filming. Explain A Genre Approach   A film genre is a category based on similarities in the type of  film namely, tragic, action, comedy , crime, adventure, horror, mystery, thriller, romcom, sci-fi, etc.  Steve Neal wrote about genre theory in films. He said "Genres are instances of repetition and differences" (Genre 1980).For example, s imilarities in action films are heroes/heroines , explosions, bonds between two characters,  dramatic  music, violence, car chases, good versus evil and happy endings.
